Report: Ex-Miami Heat forward signs deal in Greece

Through ups and downs, Chris Silva is grateful for his NBA rookie season

Former Miami Heat forward Chris Silva has agreed to a contract with AEK B.C. in Greece for the 2025-26 season, the team announced in a press release.

Silva, 28, spent multiple seasons with the Heat during a short stint in the NBA that lasted from the 2019-20 season into the 2022-23 campaign. He also played with the Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Silva began his NBA career with Miami during the 2019-20 season, appearing in 44 games and averaging 7.9 minutes per game. He averaged 3.0 points and 2.9 rebounds per game for the Heat while shooting an impressive 61.5 percent from the field.

He did not appear in a postseason game during Miami’s run to the NBA Finals in the 2019-20 season in the NBA’s Orlando, Fla. bubble.

In the 2020-21 season, Silva played in a limited number of games with Miami and the Kings. A trade sent him from Miami to Sacramento. He appeared in 15 games in total during the season (11 with the Heat) and averaged 2.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in 6.1 minutes per game.

He then spent parts of the 2021-22 season with the Timberwolves and Heat as he landed 10-day opportunities with those teams. The season gave him a chance to reunite with Miami for a while. Overall, Silva averaged 2.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game during the 2021-22 campaign across 10 appearances (nine with the Heat).

His last NBA action came with the Mavericks in the 2022-23 campaign. Silva appeared in just one game for Dallas and scored two points in that matchup.

He’s also spent time playing in the G League and earning opportunities internationally. Silva has certainly gone on an interesting basketball journey, and it’s nice to see that he’s still playing the game he loves for a living.

While he never fully latched on as a rotation piece in Miami, it’s clear the Heat were fond of his game since they had him on the roster in multiple seasons.

Hopefully, Silva will have a successful 2025-26 season in Greece that could eventually land him some looks from NBA teams once again in the future.
