Since taking over as the Kansas City Chiefs’ starter in 2018, quarterback Patrick Mahomes has established himself as one of the NFL’s best players.
In seven years, he’s led the Chiefs to an 89-23 record, making five Super Bowl appearances, winning three and finishing first place in the AFC West every season.
However, at 29 years old, Mahomes may just be getting started with Kansas City, and entering 2025, he’s looking to build even higher.

Mahomes Reveals Chiefs Roster Could Hit New Heights
During a Monday appearance on “The Up & Adams Show,” the quarterback revealed that the Chiefs could be putting together their most complete team yet.
“We have the talent to be the best team we’ve had,” Mahomes said. “You’ve got to go out there and prove it, and until we prove it, I’m not going to say we’re the best, but if we go out there and win that Super Bowl, then we can say we’re the best one.”
Coming off their third straight Super Bowl appearance, Mahomes claiming the team may not have yet peaked is a scary thought for anybody else looking to hoist the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season.
Mahomes Talks First Preseason Game
The Chiefs had their preseason opener against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday, losing 17-10. Mahomes’ time on the field was very short, completing just one pass that went for one yard and a touchdown.

While talking to Adams, he revealed that he wanted a bit more playing time, saying, “It was definitely a little bit of a bummer. You know, you want to get out there and get a couple of snaps in. I always say you want to kind of get hit just to kind of feel that… not hit hard, but just enough that you feel that you’re not wearing that yellow jersey anymore.”
Considering he still has seven more seasons of his 10-year, $450 million contract, protecting him is a must, and adding unnecessary risk during a preseason matchup will be avoided as much as possible.
