Chelsea are closing in on a sensational move for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho after the Argentine star agreed personal terms with the West London club. The 20-year-old is now waiting for both clubs to agree on a transfer fee before finalising the deal.
According to reports, United manager Ruben Amorim has told Garnacho he has no future at Old Trafford, with sources inside the club suggesting that concerns over the youngster’s attitude played a role in the decision. Despite this, the Daily Mail claims Chelsea have conducted thorough background checks and are confident any character-related issues can be managed.
Garnacho, one of the most exciting young talents in the Premier League, has made 144 appearances for Manchester United, scoring 26 goals and providing 22 assists since making his senior debut. His flair, pace, and creativity have made him a fan favourite, but his time in Manchester now appears to be coming to an end.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, via Sportal, confirmed that Chelsea opened official talks with the Red Devils earlier this week. Meanwhile, the BBC reports that United are holding out for a fee of around £50 million, though Chelsea are pushing to negotiate a lower price. This marks a notable drop from United’s reported £70 million valuation of Garnacho at the end of last season.
The Blues have been active in the transfer market this summer, already securing the signings of wingers Jamie Gittens and Estevao. They are also in advanced negotiations for Dutch star Xavi Simons, who can operate in similar attacking roles, suggesting manager Enzo Maresca is building a dynamic and versatile forward line ahead of the new Premier League season.
If completed, Garnacho’s move could be one of the biggest transfers of the summer, adding even more firepower to Chelsea’s ambitious squad rebuild.
