Steve Kerr knows exactly why he’s entering his 12th season with the Warriors, and he’s not sugarcoating it.
“First of all, I’m well aware the reason I’m still here is because Steph Curry is still here,” Kerr told the Glue Guys podcast, comparing their partnership to Gregg Popovich and Tim Duncan in San Antonio.
Since taking over in 2014, Kerr has led Golden State to four championships, six Finals appearances, and a record-setting 73-9 season. But beyond the wins, he credits Curry’s presence for providing stability, continuity, and the freedom to adapt his coaching methods to new eras of the game.
“If I didn’t have Steph,” Kerr admitted, “I’d have been like every other NBA coach, lasted a few years and gone somewhere else.”
