Tom Brady proves Dwyane Wade’s statue never had to be a disaster

Tom Brady ganha estátua dos Patriots e provoca rivais: 'Jogar cerveja'

Among the moments that Miami Heat fans would have loved to forget from the 2024-25 season was the unveiling of Dwyane Wade’s statue outside the Kaseya Center. It was an abomination that drew jokes and memes from all over the country and was an insult to the Heat legend.

And as it turns out, as one NFL legend just showed, it is 100% possible to build a statue of an athlete that actually looks like the player it is supposed to mimic.

Tom Brady gets a statue that looks like him

NFL legend Tom Brady just had a statue unveiled outside of Gillette Stadium, and if we are being honest, it looks pretty good. There is zero mistake that it is the seven-time Super Bowl winner, and everyone seems to have praise for it.

Which brings us back to Wade:

Why couldn’t Miami and Wade have something like that too?

Wade has defended the statue and said:

“If I wanted it to look like me, I’d just stand outside the arena and y’all can take photos. It don’t need to look like me. It’s the artistic version of a moment that happened that we’re trying to cement.”

What do you mean it doesn’t have to look like you? Yes, we get it that it is meant to represent a moment from 2009. But there is an option to capture that moment while also getting the facial expression to at least come close.

With what we’re assuming the statue maker was paid for the job, you can have your cake and eat it too.

What’s crazy is that Wade claimed he was involved in the process the whole way and claimed that it took over 800 hours, only for that to be the finished product.

In the end, it is what it is, and it’s better to have a statue rather than no statue at all.

But the next time the Heat immortalize someone, maybe they should take a page from what Brady just did.
