Patrick Mahomes appeared in just two plays for the Kansas City Chiefs in their preseason opener against the Arizona Cardinals, but he certainly made the most of it.
Mahomes scored a touchdown before he was officially replaced by backup quarterback Gardner Minshew during Saturday’s contest. The Chiefs star connected with Jason Brownlee for a one-yard pass that put Kansas City on the board.
While it was a simple play, the way Mahomes executed the pass had fans in awe. He pulled off what the NFL called a “beautiful back shoulder TD.”
“Mahomes makes it look too easy!” a commenter said of the pass. Another one remarked, “People saying it was a terrible throw, it was literally placed in a place where nobody but the receiver could catch. It was such a safe throw.”
An alternate angle of the throw has since surfaced, better showing how Mahomes seemed to purposely send the ball a bit farther from Brownlee in order to avoid the defense on him.
Sure enough, the wideout did a great job of catching the ball.

“Thats nearly impossible to defend. Great throw, fantastic catch,” a viewer said after seeing the new angle of the touchdown pass.
“DIME and WHAT A CATCH!” a fan added, while another supporter exclaimed, “Patrick Lavon Mahomes, you bad [expletive] you!
Mahomes finished his brief appearance with one pass attempt and one completion for one yard and one touchdown.
It remains to be seen if Mahomes will make a longer appearance when they play the Seattle Seahawks next Friday, but sure enough, the Chiefs signal-caller only fueled the fans’ excitement with his latest performance.
