The Kansas City Chiefs missed out on a historic Super Bowl three-peat last season, losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the big game, 40-22.
Patrick Mahomes and company finished the campaign with a 15-2 record, the best in the AFC and tied with the Detroit Lions for the best in the NFL. Still, failing to win the chip when they got so close certainly stings.
Now, as they head into the 2025 season, the team is clearly more motivated than ever to bounce back.
Chiefs Owner Clark Hunt Leaves Powerful Message for Players
As the Chiefs prepare for the first preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, they posted a video of team owner Clark Hunt reminding them of what they need to do.
Hunt’s message came along with a clip showing the Chiefs walking out of the Superdome as the Eagles were being crowned Super Bowl LIX champions.
“For those of you who were with us last year, I know it didn’t end like we wanted it to,” Hunt started. “And we all have a little bit of a bitter taste in our mouth.”
Hunt, who serves as the chairman and CEO of the franchise, expressed confidence that the Chiefs are more than capable of bouncing back. After all, they have what he described as “one of the best coaching staffs in the history of the National Football League.”
“It isn’t going to be easy,” Hunt clarified. “In terms of what you guys need to focus on is taking it day by day. Going out there and giving your best each day, each drill. Let’s get it done.”
Chiefs Could Be Best Team Once Again in 2025 Season
Sure enough, Clark Hunt has every reason to be optimistic about the Chiefs in 2025.
Their core of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Chris Jones remains, and they have enough offensive and defensive weapons to keep their place at the top of the league.
Furthermore, the projections on the Chiefs for the upcoming season are looking good. In fact, ESPN predicts the team to improve from their record last season and finish 16-1.

On ESPN’s Football Power Index, the Chiefs also have the best chance to make the Super Bowl, alongside the Eagles, at 18.3%. Furthermore, their probability of winning it all is at 10.3%, just behind Philly at 10.9%.
