Travis Kelce on Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIX loss: ‘I’ve thrown that thing in the trash’

Patrick Mahomes is using the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles as motivation this season.

Meanwhile, Travis Kelce doesn’t want to dwell on the blowout defeat.

“I’ve thrown that thing in the trash,” Kelce said on Wednesday, via Nate Taylor of ESPN. “I’ve moved on. It happened sooner than you can imagine. I was pretty focused on this year in the offseason.”

Questions about Kelce’s future swirled immediately following that disappointing 39-yard performance as the Chiefs fell flat in their bid to three-peat. However, once he decided to return, it’s been full bore for the future Hall of Famer.

The 35-year-old arrived at camp noticeably trimmer. Early in camp, coach Andy Reid called Kelce “svelte” and quipped the TE looked like “he’s 20.”

Although Kelce may take off a few more plays than teammates more than a decade his junior, Kelce said he still enjoys the grind of training camp.

“You’ve got to go through the dog days and enjoy it for what it is, man,” Kelce said. “We’re rocking and rolling, man. It’s training camp, so you’re going to feel the soreness and the heavy workload you’re getting every day. You’ve got to enjoy it for what it is and fight through that.”

The hope for the 10-time Pro Bowler is that the end of the grind finishes with a fourth Super Bowl.

Then, he can decide whether to ride off into the sunset on a high.
