Taylor Swift would have had a short drive from Toronto to Buffalo for Sunday’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills, but the pop star reportedly decided to remain north of the border.
Swift is wrapping up her Eras Tour with a series of shows in Toronto, but had a break of several days that lined up with Sunday’s game.
That led to speculation that she would be in attendance at Highmark Stadium outside of Buffalo, but reporter Dan Fetes, sports anchor for WHAM in Rochester, N.Y., noted before the game that Swift would not be in the stadium.
Indeed, the Bills beat the Chiefs and Swift’s boyfriend, star tight end Travis Kelce, 30-21, without Swift on hand.
While there was no confirmation as to why Swift skipped the game, Cosmopolitan’s Mehera Bonner reported it was a combination of issues that kept the singer from the game.
“There was some speculation that Taylor might attend since she doesn’t have an Eras Tour performance lined up today and was just in nearby Toronto,” Bonner reported. “But a few things to note: 1) Taylor is reportedly only attending Chiefs home games in Kansas City due to security reasons.
And on top of that, sports commentator Adam Lefkoe says she and the Kelce family didn’t have the best time at last year’s Chiefs vs. Bills game in Buffalo.”
Lefkoe told Kay Adams earlier this week that Swift didn’t have a great time in January, when the Chiefs traveled to Buffalo for a divisional round playoff game and left with a win that sent them to the AFC Championship game.
Adam Lefkoe says the Kelce-Swift family were SHOCKED by the reception they got from #BillsMafia during last season’s Divisional RD game.
“It was not a great experience in Buffalo, for ALL parties involved.” @heykayadams@AdamLefkoe | #ChiefsKingdompic.twitter.com/xaie79frCB — Up & Adams (@UpAndAdamsShow) November 14, 2024 “I have heard from people very close that it was not a great experience in Buffalo,” Lefkoe said. “It was not. For all parties involved…
And I’m talking about the most famous of all the parties.” Swift’s last visit to Buffalo drew some viral attention, thanks in part to the antics of her boyfriend’s brother.
Attending the game with Swift and his family shortly after his final game in the NFL, Jason Kelce spent time tailgating with Bills fans and jumped from their private suite into the crowd shirtless to drink a beer with fans. The Chiefs have three remaining home games on the schedule.
They will play the Raiders on Nov. 29, the day after Thanksgiving, and smack in the middle of a break in Canadian leg of the Eras Tour.
She could attend that game, but the Chiefs play at home on Dec. 8 against the Chargers, and Swift will be playing in Vancouver that evening–the Eras finale.
Their final home game will be played on Saturday, Dec. 21, against Houston.
