The Utah Jazz have embraced their rebuild, but veteran forward Kevin Love apparently has different plans.

Love landed in Salt Lake City this offseason as part of a three-team trade involving the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers.

The move was purely business for Utah, but the five-time All-Star is already looking for an exit strategy.

NBA insider Marc Stein recently reported that Love has joined the growing list of players seeking buyouts from their current teams.

“As for the busy buyout market: Stay tuned. We’ve already seen Bradley Beal (Clippers), Lillard (Trail Blazers), Ayton (Lakers), Smart (Lakers) and Jordan Clarkson (Knicks) find new teams after securing buyouts and now five-time NBA All-Star Kevin Love is actively exploring potential pathways out of Utah after he was dealt by Miami to the Jazz as part of the three-team Norman Powell trade,” Stein noted.

Love’s situation reflects the reality of modern NBA rebuilds.

The 2016 champion averaged just 5.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in 23 games last season with Miami while shooting 35.7% from the field. Those numbers tell only part of his story.

His leadership and playoff experience still carry weight with contending teams.

League sources suggest Love wants to land in a major market, with Los Angeles and New York topping his wish list.

His one-year deal worth $4.15 million makes a buyout financially manageable for Utah.

The Lakers could offer Love a reunion with LeBron James and another championship chase.

The New York Knicks present an opportunity to play meaningful minutes in the spotlight.

Both scenarios would give the veteran forward what he reportedly wants most.

Love understands his window is closing. At this stage of his career, playing for a rebuilding Jazz team makes little sense when contenders could use his veteran presence.
