Matty Healy seems to be putting the “heal” in “Healy,” as The 1975 singer was photographed comforting his mother, British TV show host Denise Welch, just days after she made headlines for throwing shade at his ex, Taylor Swift.
The mother-son duo were papped outside of a West Hollywood restaurant on Thursday, July 31.
Per photos obtained by TMZ, Welch, 67, is seen dabbing at her eyes with a tissue as Healy, 36, smokes a cigarette and wraps his arms around her.
“There was a family matter that Matty was consoling his mother about,” the outlet reported.
Welch’s tearful moment in public comes one week after she stunned Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen with her on-air jab at Swift.
“Not being her mother-in-law is a role that I’m glad that I lost,” the Loose Women host told Cohen on July 24, though Welch also noted she doesn’t have “anything against her at all.”
“It’s tricky,” Welch admitted, after Cohen asked for her thoughts on Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department album — which is said to have been heavily inspired by her 2023 summer fling with Healy (particularly when it comes to the titular track and the thinly-veiled lyrics on “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived”).
“Listen, you’re not allowed to say anything and then she writes a whole album about it,” Welch continued, noting that her son has taken TTPD “all in completely good graces.”
Swift and Healy have since moved on to new loves since their summer fling fizzled two years ago. While the 14-time Grammy Award winner has famously been dating Travis Kelcefollowing her June 2023 split from the “Chocolate” singer, Healy got engaged to Gabriella Bechtel — aka Gabrriette — earlier this year.
“He’s very happy with his amazing fiancée Gabriella … who is gorgeous, so we’ve moved on,” Welch told Cohen.
