Kansas City Chiefs fans remember the days where the front office for the team was an absolute mess. Fortunately, we don’t live in that timeline anymore. The Dallas Cowboys can’t say the same thing.
On Friday, things really blew up for the Cowboys when star pass-rusher Micah Parsons posted on his social media through a note on his phone that he did not want to be a member of the Dallas Cowboys anymore. While this is obviously unfortunate for Cowboys fans, Chiefs fans can sit back and further appreciate how competent their front office is.
Chiefs fans should be thankful their front office is nothing like the Cowboys’
While yes, the Chiefs did have some drama when Chris Jones sat out to begin the 2023 season, for the most part, it’s been smooth sailing between them and their players. The Chiefs have made it a priority to extend their key players, ensuring that guys like (obviously) Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Jones, and George Karlaftis don’t go anywhere.
Karlaftis is a good example here with the Parsons stuff because even though Karlaftis was drafted one full year after Parsons, the Chiefs got him extended and taken care of. The Cowboys knew they’d need to extend Parsons and rather than doing it a year ago, which would have made the deal look like a bargain within the year, they kept pushing it off.
Now Parsons is furious and doesn’t even want to be associated with the team anymore. Even when things did get dramatic with Jones, he sat out Week 1 and then the two came to an agreement before Week 2. It didn’t get to the level it did with Parsons and truthfully, had the two not been able to agree to something, they’d probably have traded him rather than let it get this bad (see the Tyreek Hill situation in 2022).
While it’d be more fun to see something like this happen to a division rival, Chiefs fans can still take solace in the fact that their front office is well-run and the team is winning Super Bowls. The Cowboys haven’t been able to say either of those things in quite some time.
