Mets option Devenski, activate Rogers, move Winker to 60-day IL

Mets Re-Sign Chris Devenski - MLB Trade Rumors

The Mets have optioned right-handed reliever Chris Devenski to Triple-A Syracuse and added newly-acquired right-handed reliever Tyler Rogers to their active roster. The team also transferred designated hitter Jesse Winker to the 60-day injured list.

It’s been a roller coaster year for Devenski, who began the season in Syracuse and has been called up to the big leagues and demoted back to Syrcause several times since then. He was also designated for assignment earlier this month before clearing waivers and re-signing with the Mets.

You can read all about Rogers in our “getting to know” piece about him, but the short version is that the 34-year-old has a 1.80 ERA and a 2.59 FIP this year, as he continues to put up excellent numbers despite having a below-average strikeout rate for a reliever.

As for Winker, he’s only made 81 plate appearances this year, has missed a lot of time with injuries, and has hit just .229/.309/.400 with a 97 wRC+ when he’s been able to play.
