Hollywood Brown’s bad injury luck continues at Chiefs camp

Update: Brown reportedly avoided a serious injury, per Jordan Schultz.

Injuries are a strong part of training camp and, unfortunately, the Kansas City Chiefs are already experiencing how big of a blow they can be. During Tuesday’s practice, wide receiver Hollywood Brown was spotted limping with what was initially said to be a lower right leg injury, according to Nate Taylor of ESPN.

Moments later, Taylor reported that a cart had come to pick Brown up and that his day was done. This could simply be a leg cramp or have something to do with how brutally hot and humid it is outside in St. Joseph (and Kansas City) but it’s hard for fans not to think the worst here, especially with Brown’s injury history.

Hollywood Brown injury has Chiefs fans bracing for more bad news

Brown is a productive player but he’s unfortunately earned the injury-prone label. Chiefs fans know this all too well considering he missed the majority of the 2024 regular season with a shoulder injury. Brown was injured in the Chiefs’ first preseason game last year and didn’t debut for them until December.

Before that, Brown had missed time with the Cardinals in both 2022 and 2023. The hope here is that it was something heat-related and Taylor even responded to someone on X who pointed that out with a “You’re not wrong”.

The Chiefs could really use Brown in 2025 due to Rashee Rice’s impending suspension and the questionable depth behind the starters. Sure, fans are excited about Jalen Royals but if Skyy Moore is having to step into games in Brown’s place, that isn’t a timeline fans want to live in.

Brown had nine catches for 91 yards in two regular-season games last year while tallying five catches for 50 yards in three postseason games. The hope is that he can stay healthy enough to give Patrick Mahomes a reliable weapon this year but fans are having nightmare flashbacks to last preseason. Hopefully, he’s okay and can take the field in September when the Chiefs kick off their 2025 season in Brazil.
