Former Warriors Trade Target Could Be Released This Offseason: Report

It has been an underwhelming offseason thus far for the Golden State Warriors as they have yet to make any additions to their roster outside of the 2025 NBA Draft.

Of course, many expected the Warriors to be aggressive this summer to upgrade their roster around their star trio of Stephen CurryJimmy Butler and Draymond Green to chase a championship next season but that has not been the case.

Instead, Golden State is still awaiting a decision by restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga and while waiting, they have missed out on multiple free agent targets.

Despite this, there have been reports that the Warriors already have multiple deals in place with free agents that will be finalized after Kuminga makes his decision and they also may be able to upgrade their roster via a sign-and-trade if Kuminga elects to leave The Bay.

One player the Warriors had been linked to over the past few seasons is Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic, who many believed could be included a potential sign-and-trade package for the Bulls to add Kuminga this summer.

Despite this, there have been reports that the Warriors are not interested in trading for Vucevic due to his contract, though a report on Monday has opened up a potential different way for them to add him to their roster.

According to Yahoo Sports, if the Bulls are unable to find a trade for Vucevic this offseason then they will release the 34-year-old big man.

This is a massive report as it appears that Vucevic’s time in Chicago is nearing an end and if he is released, Golden State may be a team that shows interest in signing him.

Of course, Vucevic would be a solid addition to the Warriors’ frontcourt as he would give them a much-needed center who would help them space the floor alongside their aging trio.
