2 Chiefs back, 2 out of Sunday practice; Andy Reid reveals surgery for Kristian Fulton

New Chiefs Addition Already Off to Terrible Start at Camp with KC

Through the first four practices of the Kansas City Chiefs’ training camp at Missouri Western University in St. Joseph, the only players to miss practice time were the three who had begun camp on the team’s Active/PUP list: right tackle Jawaan Taylor, tight end Tre Watson and cornerback Kristian Fulton.

But on Sunday — the first day the team was working in pads — Taylor and Watson passed their physicals and returned to practice, while Fulton missed his fifth session of training camp. After practice, head coach Andy Reid revealed that during the offseason, Fulton underwent a cleanup surgery on his knee.

Meanwhile, rookie undrafted free agent tight end Jake Briningstool was held out, appearing on the field without pads, but with a compression sleeve on his left leg. Reid later said the tight end had a hamstring injury. He became the first player to be hobbled by an injury after camp began. (We should note, however, that Briningstool missed some practices during the offseason program, too.)

During practice, rookie defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott was shaken up on the first play of 11-on-11s. He walked to the medical tent under his own power, where he was evaluated for what Reid called a tweaked ankle. He later returned to the field.

Cornerback Darius Rush was also reported to have been in the medical tent.
