Kevin Love appears to be entering the final phase of a storied NBA career. The 36-year-old veteran first emerged as a rebounding force with the Minnesota Timberwolves, then won a championship alongside LeBron James and Kyrie Irving with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016.
A five-time All-Star and former league rebounding leader, Love later transitioned into a reserve role before signing with the Miami Heat in 2023, helping the team reach the NBA Finals that year. His minutes and production have steadily declined since — last season he appeared in just 23 games, averaging 5.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in just under 11 minutes per game.

Now in the twilight of his career and after being traded to the Utah Jazz in a three-team deal involving the Heat and Clippers, Love is reportedly poised for a new chapter in a big market. According to NBA Insider Jake Fischer (h/t Basketball Zone), although his buyout with the Jazz has not yet been resolved, Love is tending towards playing in New York or LA.
“So with Kevin Love, to my understanding, he really only wants to be in the big glamour markets … I do think it would mostly be something along the lines of Kevin Love going to a New York or a Los Angeles type of situation. So, we’ll see if that can materialize for him.”
A move to L.A. would reunite him with James—his former Cleveland teammate, and Lakers fans immediately seized on the potential reunion, flooding social media with enthusiastic responses:
“Come get this ring wit bron,” one fan urged.
“Bron and KLove teaming back up,” another fan said.
“Lakers could be a natural fit,” a third fan added.
“Former UCLA Bruin… needs to come back to LA and join the Lakers & Bron,” another fan posted.
“Come to the Lakers big bro,” another fan mentioned.
