Ange Postecoglou sack latest: Tottenham insider shares ‘huge’ claim

Ange Postecoglou sack latest: Tottenham insider shares ‘huge’ claim.

Ange Postecoglou will be sacked by Tottenham if he cannot sort out the team’s “huge” defensive flaws, according to the club’s former scout.

Mick Brown, who also spent over a decade at Man United during their most successful period and remains very well-connected within the game, exclusively told Football Insider that the boss is under pressure after a poor run of form.

This comes after Football Insider revealed that the Tottenham hierarchy are expecting to qualify for the Champions League come the end of the season.

Spurs are currently 10th in the Premier League after winning five, drawing one, and losing five of their opening 11 league games.

A shock 2-1 defeat to Ipswich followed a 3-2 defeat away from home against Galatasaray, with Tottenham having now lost three of their last five games.

As a result, Ange Postecoglou has faced some backlash following a lack of consistency on the pitch, with questions being asked about his side.

Meanwhile, despite admitting he expects the boss to stay in the job as things stand, Brown has insisted Tottenham must tighten up their defence if they want to be successful.

Ange Postecoglou ‘under pressure’ at Tottenham

Football Insider revealed on 11 November that Postecoglou is not in sack danger at Spurs despite growing fan frustration after the 2-1 defeat against Ipswich.

However, Brown, who has a wealth of experience working closely with managers at the highest level including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, insisted that

“When you suffer a couple of shock results, you’re going to be under pressure,” he told Football Insider.

“I don’t think he’s in any immediate danger, but they’re far too inconsistent and that must be a concern.

“When you’re winning games 3-2 or 4-3, everybody’s happy as long as they’re the ones with the four. If they’re on the other side, it’s not good enough.

“They give far too many goals away and that’s a huge flaw in their game.

“On a good day, they can play teams off the park, but they concede goals for fun and that always puts you at risk of losing.

“And that’s something that has been a problem since he took over without much change.

“Every few games they give away silly goals and it’s tough to take, that’s why the manager is facing some pressure, because they won’t change.

“It’s fine to stick by your principles, but if you don’t make changes, the situation won’t change and that pressure will continue to build until eventually it’s too much.”
