A two-part documentary about Taylor Swift is set to air on Channel 4 later this year and promises to show the ‘other side’ of the singer and her rise to global fame
Swifties are in for a right treat as a brand new two-part doc about the Love Story legend, Taylor Swift, is set to hit Channel 4.
Currently dubbed ‘Taylor’, the series, due to air later this year, will delve into the journey of the Shake It Off superstar from her humble beginnings to becoming one of the globe’s top pop sensations.
Channel 4 has promised that the programme will really get under the skin of Taylor’s two-decade-long career, featuring chats with big-name pundits, industry insiders, and die-hard fans.
The documentary will also take a closer look at the influences that have shaped her path and the loyal fanbase she’s built up. Plus, it’ll dish out some fresh insights into Taylor and her story, thanks to some rare archive footage, tracing her rise from a dreamy-eyed teenager to one of the most talked-about figures of our era.
Director Guy Fall (The Fall, Bombing Brighton), along with Guy King, reckons the megastar is “unprecedentedly powerful”, stating: “Taylor Swift is an unprecedentedly powerful 21st Century voice for women and young people.
“Having been in the social media spotlight since the early days of MySpace and Tumblr, she’s grown up during a new wave of feminism.”, reports the Mirror.
“And with fame came controversy, which she’s managed to tackle head-on. We can’t wait to share her story.”
Shaminder Nahal, the Head of Specialist Factual at Channel 4 and Commissioning Editor, expressed her excitement about the project, stating: “We’re thrilled that Sandpaper and director Guy King will be bringing their calibre of storytelling to chart the impact of Taylor Swift on today’s culture.
“Her journey has been nothing short of epic, and we’re keen for this series to reflect all the joy and artistry, the heartbreaks and high stakes, of her stunning career, while also showing viewers sides of Taylor Swift that they might not know or expect.”
It comes weeks after Taylor announced that she has acquired the rights to all of her music.
The 35-year-old purchased the rights to all of her concert films, music videos, album art and photography, as well as unreleased songs, in an announcement on her website.
She also confirmed she will release Taylor’s Version re-recordings of her self-titled and Reputation albums.
In the announcement, the singer said: “I’m trying to gather my thoughts into something coherent, but right now my mind is just a slideshow. A flashback sequence of all the times I daydreamed about, wished for, and pined away for a chance to get to tell you this news.”
