Chiefs Playmaker Immediately Starts Off Training Camp with a Bang

The Kansas City Chiefs have reason to feel far better about their receiver group this season. Whether or not Rashee Rice is suspended, the star is expected to make a fully healthy return to the lineup before games truly matter for the top contender in the conference. Having Rice back, along with the addition of rookie Jalen Royals, leaves every reason to be excited about this group.

A big piece of this is what speedster Xavier Worthy brings to the table and the continued emergence of a player who could quickly become a star.

It is well established how much quarterback Patrick Mahomes enjoys pushing the ball down the field. Watching the end of last year’s Super Bowl, it was one of the lone bright spots seeing Worthy and Mahomes connect on a big play. One that fans hope was a sneak peek of things to come for the loaded organization.

If camp is any indication, the duo is picking up right where they left off with Mahomes hitting the speedy receiver for a big play this week.

Chiefs Receiver Xavier Worthy Continues to Build Excitement

The one concern with Worthy remains how the receiver’s lean frame is going to hold up to NFL-level punishment as he continues to become a bigger piece in the KC offense. Having Rice return is going to be huge in unlocking Worthy’s full potential.

With Travis Kelce and Rice both on the field, the speedster has a far better chance of getting lost behind the defense. A skill Mahomes will want to consistently take advantage of to help put last season’s offensive question marks behind the unit.

Mahomes connecting with Worthy at this point in the summer isn’t going to grab many headlines, but it is an exciting indication. One that suggests the duo is continuing to build chemistry as Worthy continues to find his way into Andy Reid’s offense.

If Worthy can stay healthy and Rice is able to return from any suspension before the halfway point, this offense has a chance to be the most lethal version fans have seen since Tyreek Hill’s departure. Health and needed depth haven’t been on the Chiefs’ side to this level for the past three seasons. Still, Kansas City has played in every Super Bowl and won two of them. A truly remarkable accomplishment for a group that is still just scratching the surface of its potential offensive ceiling.
