Jadon Sancho looks set to leave Manchester United for good, marking the end of a turbulent chapter in his career at Old Trafford. The winger was pushed to the fringes of the team after a public fallout with Erik ten Hag in late 2023. In an attempt to revive his form and confidence, Sancho returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan in January. Although he delivered some notable performances, especially in the Champions League, Dortmund decided not to pursue a permanent deal.
United later brokered a loan move to Chelsea that came with a mandatory purchase clause. However, that agreement fell apart when Sancho refused to take a pay cut, prompting the Blues to walk away from the deal. Since his £73 million move from Dortmund in 2021, Sancho’s hefty wages have made it difficult for the Red Devils to find a long-term buyer.
Now, Juventus are closing in on securing his signature. Italian journalist Marco Giordano reports that Sancho’s agent, Emeka Obasi, is currently in Turin to wrap up the transfer. The proposed deal is said to be valued at around €15 million, with United prepared to offer a severance payment to help smooth the exit. A medical is expected soon, indicating that the transfer is nearing completion.
This sale could be a crucial step in United’s efforts to reshape the squad under new manager Rúben Amorim. So far this summer, only Matheus Cunha has joined, following the activation of his release clause at Wolves. The club is also pursuing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, though the asking price has stalled talks. With financial constraints in play, United may need to offload high-earners like Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, or Antony to raise funds and give Amorim the flexibility to implement his vision.
