Manchester United are poised to secure the services of a top-tier striker before the current transfer window closes. The club has already made significant moves this summer, bringing in Matheus Cunha and edging closer to finalising a deal for Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
Attention has now shifted to strengthening the attack even further, with reports from Foot Mercato revealing that United have entered the race to sign Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain. The French forward recently completed a productive loan spell at Juventus, where he recorded 13 goal contributions in just 22 appearances. Juventus had hoped to extend his stay, but United’s interest could change the situation dramatically.
Kolo Muani, who cost PSG £76.4 million when he joined from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023, is now on United’s radar. The Red Devils have reportedly contacted the striker directly, aiming to gauge his interest in a move to the Premier League. Known for his fluid playing style, mobility, and ability to drop deep to support build-up play, the 26-year-old is regarded as an ideal fit for Erik ten Hag’s system.
The Frenchman boasts an impressive 31 percent shot-to-goal conversion rate in Serie A, making him one of the most clinical forwards in European football. With many attackers from Ligue 1 struggling to transition into English football, United may have initially considered a loan move with an option to buy. However, the club has now reached a verbal agreement with PSG for a permanent transfer worth £63 million, plus £10 million in add-ons.
Kolo Muani is expected to don the No. 18 shirt, once worn by club legend Paul Scholes. He’s seen as a high-energy, intelligent striker who fits into the club’s new strategy of signing versatile, dynamic attackers. Lothar Matthäus once described him as “ice-cold” in front of goal, a testament to his calm finishing and game intelligence.
This signing is in line with the vision laid out by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Dan Ashworth, who are looking to build a side full of modern, adaptable players. With Kolo Muani expected to lead the line, United’s attacking setup could feature Marcus Rashford and Bryan Mbeumo alongside him, supported by Bruno Fernandes and a yet-to-be-confirmed midfield duo, possibly including Ugarte or Neves.
As things stand, Kolo Muani’s arrival appears imminent, with only his medical left before the deal is completed. This move marks another significant step in United’s summer rebuild as they aim to return to the top of English football.
