Celtics injury report: Starter added for Saturday’s game vs. Raptors

Jrue Holiday, Joe Mazzulla

The Celtics could be down a key member of their backcourt on Saturday night for a matchup with the Toronto Raptors. Boston announced an addition to the injury report on Saturday night, listing Jrue Holiday as questionable due to left elbow tendiopathy. Jaden Springer (left knee tendiopathy) was also listed as questionable while Kristaps Porzingis remains out as expected. Al Horford was removed from the injury report entirely after sitting out Wednesday’s game with a left big toe sprain.

Holiday has played in all 13 games for the Celtics to begin this season, averaging 12.5 points per game. He dealt with a similar elbow issue for much of last season but the Celtics could be looking to give the veteran some valuable rest during a softer part of the schedule. Boston has two more days off after Saturday’s game against the Raptors so Holiday would have a full week off if he does not suit up.

Toronto is also the worst team in the NBA entering Friday night with a 2-10 record to begin the year, which makes it a stronger candidate to give Holiday the night off.
