Taylor Swift: Louis Vuitton Tambour
The superstar of superstars, Taylor Swift, is rarely seen wearing a watch, so it was a delight for us, and all the watch-loving “Swifties”, to see her in Kansas City this week wearing a Louis Vuitton Tambour. This elegant sports watch was first released in 2002 and received an important makeover in 2023 with a new slimmer 40 mm x 8.3 mm case and a brand-new dial aesthetic. Swift was seen wearing the rose gold model with an integrated rose gold bracelet and a white dial with a gray vertically brushed center and sub dial. The watch is powered by Louis Vuitton’s COSC-certified automatic movement and comes with a price tag of around $64,000.

Rihanna: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Mini Frosted Gold
Rihanna was out and about this week rocking her Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Mini Frosted Gold wristwatch. This new collection was unveiled earlier this year in a new 23 mm size. This isn’t the first time Audemars Piguet has created a tiny Royal Oak; the original dates back to 1997 and was even smaller at 20 mm. This new version comes in the brand’s frosted gold with a “Petite Tapisserie” dial and gold faceted hour markers filled with luminescence for optimal reading at night. The Royal Oak Mini Frosted Gold is powered by the Caliber 2730, a high-quality quartz movement. It is also available in a choice of pink or white gold and has a price tag of $34,000.

Tyla: Jacob & Co. Choker
Award-winning, South African singer Tyla, best known for her fusion of pop and amapiano music, attended the MTV EMAs in Manchester, England, last weekend, making history by being the first African artist to win three awards in one night. Accepting her trophy, she mounted the stage wearing a sparkling Jacob & Co. necklace watch around her neck adorned with an array of baguette-cut diamonds. This new way of wearing watches was made famous by Beyoncé at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier in the year. Tyla paired her horological choker with Jacob & Co. diamond hoops and a diamond bangle. The choker is valued at $1 million.

Mark Zuckerberg: Patek Philippe Cubitus
Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook and its parent company Meta Platforms, posted on Instagram this week wearing the all-new Patek Philippe Cubitus. His model is the most complex of the three inaugural timepieces, featuring an instantaneous grand date and moon phase indication. Housed in a platinum case, it is much smaller on the wrist than its 45 mm dimension sounds (we have tried it on). The sunburst blue dial is horizontally embossed and is adorned with white gold applied baton-style hour markers, much like the Nautilus. Zuckerberg has allegedly been bitten by the watch collector bug, so stay tuned for more from the businessman. This Patek Philippe Cubitus is priced at $88,380.
-
Dwayne Johnson: IWC Portugieser Hand-Wound Tourbillon Day & Night
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson attended the 2024 GQ Men of the Year Party in Los Angeles this week wearing an IWC Portugieser Hand-Wound Tourbillon Day & Night. This 42.5 mm timepiece was released at Watches and Wonders earlier this year. It is crafted in IWC’s Armor Gold (a special alloy that is harder and more resistant than red gold) and is finished with a brushed technique. The watch’s black dial contrasts beautifully with the day/night globe indicator and tourbillon cage and was a great accessory for Johnson’s black cowboy outfit that he wore to the men’s fashion event. This timepiece comes with a price tag of $79,300.

Larry Jackson: Santos de Cartier Skeleton
The former Global Creative Director of Apple Music, and now co-founder of gamma, Larry Jackson, was in Hollywood this week for the launch of a new jewelry line with Snoop Dogg and the jewelry brand Metal Alchemist. For the launch party, Jackson slipped on an elegant Santos de Cartier in yellow gold with an openworked movement featuring skeletonized bridges that form the Roman numerals. This is the larger yellow gold Santos de Cartier model and it comes with a matching integrated bracelet with a QuickSwitch interchangeable bracelet system. You can expect to pay $70,000 for this timepiece.
Victor Cruz: Breitling Chronomat B01 42 NFL Editions
The former wide receiver for the New York Giants was at a Breitling launch event on New York’s Madison Avenue this week wearing a brand-new Breitling Chronomat B01 42 NFL New York Giants edition. He was at the brand’s boutique for the launch of a new NFL series with 32 Chronomat editions, one for each NFL team. The watches come in a 42 mm stainless steel case, feature dials that match each team’s distinctive colors, and include the team logo on the dial and the NFL logo on the sapphire crystal case back. Each edition is limited to 101 pieces and comes at a price of $9,200.
