Taylor Swift’s father is on the road to recovery after doctors reportedly performed a quintuple bypass on his heart this week.
That is surely wonderful news, after a routine health check-up for Scott Swift, 73, quickly turned into a potential crisis.
‘The doctor found something and everything happened so fast. But they took care of it,’ an insider tells the Daily Mail. ‘Taylor has been so concerned with her mother’s health struggles over the years that her focus was really only on her. Her dad was always in great shape.’
Andrea Swift, 67, has weathered both brain and breast cancer.
So it’s little surprise, then, that Scott’s health scare left Taylor, 35, rattled.
But, in a touching revelation about events inside hospital walls, the Daily Mail has learned that, as the singer and her family rushed to Scott’s bedside, it was Taylor’s boyfriend Travis Kelce who ‘went into total caregiver mode’.

In a touching revelation about events inside hospital walls, the Daily Mail has learned that, as the singer and her family rushed to Scott’s bedside, it was Taylor’s boyfriend Travis Kelce who ‘went into total caregiver mode’
Whether it’s been ordering takeout meals for Taylor – ‘making sure she was eating’ – or checking in personally on Scott following his surgery, it is understood that NFL star Kelce, 35, has really risen to the occasion.
‘This was their first crisis together and Travis was doing everything right. If Taylor wasn’t ready to marry him before, she sure is now. They were in love before, but now it seems unbreakable,’ our insider said.
And perhaps in the biggest show yet of that ‘unbreakable’ bond, it can also be revealed that Travis received a much-coveted phone notification… he was added to the Swift family group chat!
Throughout his two-year romance with Taylor, Travis has certainly developed a close relationship with her family – and vice versa.
As recently as May, the couple were joined for a Mother’s Day brunch in Philadelphia by Travis’s mother Donna Kelce, his brother Jason Kelce, and his wife Kylie.
Donna and Taylor first bonded in the stadium stands in the 2023 football season, cheering on Travis from the crowd – much to the delight of watching fans.
As for Travis, he even has a cheeky nickname for Taylor’s dad – ‘Big Scott’ – and often pokes fun at his lifelong loyalty to the Philadelphia Eagles (who memorably beat Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl this year).
Of course, as a singer who started out as a country star, Taylor hails from Pennsylvania – and also considered herself an Eagles fan before meeting Travis.
In fact, she’s always been especially close to her father, the Merrill Lynch stockbroker credited with managing his daughter’s finances – and helping to build her now $1.6billion fortune.
Scott looms large in Taylor’s music, and particularly so in songs about her love life.
Tracks like But Daddy I Love Him and All Too Well (‘You, who charmed my dad with self-effacing jokes’) pay homage to his clear paternal guidance – something we saw on full display in May.
Then, Taylor was caught in the maw of an increasingly ugly battle with her one-time bestie, Blake Lively.
The actress’s legal fight with her co-star Justin Baldoni was becoming equally unsightly, and Swift had found herself unwittingly subpoenaed as a witness in the case.
That subpoena was quickly withdrawn – but, as we would soon learn, only thanks to an extraordinary alleged intervention by Scott.

As the story goes: In exchange for dropping the subpoena, Scott allegedly provided documented evidence to Baldoni’s legal team detailing how Lively’s attorneys had ‘threatened to leak’ his daughter’s private text messages with the actress.
Lively’s counsel denies the claim, but the damage was done.
‘[Blake] has been reaching out to [Taylor] with texts, voicemails and even emails begging to mend what they once had… Taylor hasn’t responded to any of Blake’s pleas,’ a source told the Daily Mail last month.
Jump forward some two months, and it’s now Taylor’s turn to run to her dad’s aid.
And, for a father who has kept such close watch over his daughter’s various romances – long and short – Taylor’s latest, and hopefully lasting love, has been able to be there for Scott, too.
If that doesn’t ensure the father-in-law seal of approval, nothing will.
