Manchester United winger Antony has no plans to leave the club despite mounting speculation about his future, according to recent reports.
Antony has struggled to justify his £86 million transfer fee since joining from Ajax in the summer of 2022. In 87 appearances for United, the 24-year-old has contributed just 12 goals and five assists, leading to criticism of his performances.
United Reportedly Open to Offloading Antony
As reported by *The Peoples Person*, Manchester United are considering cutting their losses on the Brazilian and may even approve a loan move in the January transfer window. One rumor suggested that United were exploring the possibility of including Antony in a swap deal for Flamengo’s highly-rated youngster Lorran, an 18-year-old midfielder valued at €12 million.
However, journalist Jorge Nicola has dismissed these claims. Speaking to *Sport Witness*, Nicola revealed that he contacted Antony’s agent, Junior Pedroso, who firmly denied any intention of leaving Old Trafford.
Agent Reaffirms Commitment
Nicola quoted Pedroso as saying Antony is committed to Manchester United despite the uncertainties surrounding his future:
“Antony has no intention of leaving Manchester United. The club has just appointed Ruben Amorim as the new head coach, which opens up a fresh opportunity for Antony to prove himself. He still has two and a half years left on his contract and plans to continue.”
Nicola also highlighted the improbability of a swap deal with Lorran, noting the significant difference in valuation between the two players:
“Lorran is valued at €12 million, while Antony was signed for €100 million. The idea of such a swap seems implausible.”
Antony’s Limited Role Under Scrutiny
This season, Antony has seen his playing time diminish drastically, managing just 27 minutes of Premier League action so far. With Ruben Amorim now at the helm, Antony is reportedly set for discussions with the club to address his role and future opportunities under the new manager.
Amorim’s arrival offers Antony a chance to reset and prove his value, but whether he can seize that opportunity remains to be seen.
