Exclusive: Lakers’ Austin Reaves Makes Personal Announcement

Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves has already made strong NBA career for himself. Undrafted out of Oklahoma, Reaves was signed by Los Angeles as a free agent in 2021.

It was initially a two-way deal Reaves signed, but he quickly had that converted into a standard contract after showing exciting potential.

Four seasons later, Reaves is coming off a career year in which he averaged 20.2 points across 73 games for the Lakers.

Viewed as a longterm piece in Los Angeles, Reaves reportedly declined a nearly $90 million contract extension as he eyes a more lucrative deal down the line (via Dan Woike of The Athletic).

As he prepares for a fifth NBA season, Reaves is also making moves off the court. On Tuesday, the 27-year-old guard announced some personal news regarding his offseason plans. He will be heading out of the country for a summer tour.

“Headed back to China and Asia again and I can’t wait!” Reaves posted on Instagram. “See yall soon!”

Reaves’ post included information and dates for his upcoming tour. It begins on Aug. 2 and goes through Aug. 11 when he caps off the festivities with a VIP fan meeting. As he has grown as a player, Reaves has also ascended in popularity.

Entering the third year of his four-year, $53.8 million contract with Los Angeles, Reaves can opt-out after this season and become an unrestricted free agent.

Should he put together another season like the one he had in 2024-25, he will be in line for a massive deal.
