Chiefs Suddenly Have New WR Trade Target to Consider as Camp Begins

When you have a quarterback like Patrick Mahomes calling the shots, you can never have enough weapons at his disposal, and that is a mantra the Kansas City Chiefs have been following for years.

With that train of thought at the front of the mind of the Chiefs’ front office, the organization would be wise to try to take advantage of every opportunity that comes along to upgrade the skill-position players alongside Mahomes on the offensive side of the ball.

If that is the approach the organization plans to take, there is a perfect fit for Kansas City, which has just requested to be placed on the trading block.

Chiefs Have New WR Trade Target to Consider in Jauan Jennings

Kansas City doesn’t have any glaring holes at the wide receiver position but that doesn’t mean they should sit out the Jauan Jennings sweepstakes as the former SEC star wants out of San Francisco, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

49ers WR Jauan Jennings, who is scheduled to make $7.5 million this season in the final year of his deal, wants a new contract or a trade, per sources.

Jennings is a big-bodied receiver who is coming off his best season as a pro after reeling in 77 catches for 975 yards and six touchdowns during the 2024 campaign. Given his combination of size and strength, Jennings stands 6-foot-3 and played last season at 212 pounds. The wideout is a threat over the middle and in the red zone.

Acquiring Jennings wouldn’t set Kansas City back very much, either from a financial standpoint or from a draft capital standpoint. In all likelihood, the Chiefs should be able to acquire him with a late-round draft pick due to this being the final year on his current contract.

If Jennings is all he’s cracked up to be, he would be quite the boost to an already elite offensive attack. If Kansas City elects to stand pat with Hollywood Brown, Rashee Rice, and Xavier Worthy as their starters and primary pieces out wide, the Chiefs will be fine.

When you have an elite signal caller like Mahomes, you must do everything at your disposal to provide him with every possible advantage that is out there for him.
