The biggest issue facing the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2025 offseason is finding stability along the offensive line. It is easy to talk any Chiefs fans into believing last year ended differently if the offensive line had given Patrick Mahomes any chance. The Philadelphia Eagles bullied Kansas City in the trenches and gave the best quarterback in the league zero time to make plays or put his team back into the game. With this in mind, the biggest story is the addition of first-round pick Josh Simmons. The rookie has agreed to a 4-year $14.7 million deal.

While Simmons is yet to take part due to an existing injury, the rookie is already earning his contract simply by giving fans reason to believe this season will be different. It seems the team has finally found much-needed stability at the most important position along the offensive line. Protecting the quarterback’s blindside is no small feat, and with a living legend like Mahomes, every second is going to count. The veteran quarterback has an elite ability to buy time and make things happen just when it seems the play is all but over.

The Chiefs Badly Needed the Stability Josh Simmons Will Bring

Simmons has experience playing NFL-level pass rushers and has given every reason to believe he will be ready to take the leap in the regular season. Add in the elevation of Andy Reid, and the Chiefs fan base has reason to believe the position will finally have stability. While there are still concerns on the inside, this will go a long way in dealing with the issues that haunted Mahomes in the final game of the 2024 season.

Watching the Kansas City offseason, there isn’t any reason to believe the dynasty won’t continue into the 2025 season. As long as Reid is coaching and Mahomes is healthy, the team’s floor has proven to be the AFC Championship. Adding Simmons bolsters this belief and leaves valid reason to believe the team’s dominance is going to continue.

The Chiefs have a long history of drafting well and finding players who make an instant impact. Simmons is going to be the latest example of this in what will be a great 2025 season.
