Update: Chiefs Youngster Given ‘Superstar’ Projection In 5 x All-Pro Comparison

As the 2025 season rapidly approaches, the Kansas City Chiefs have a revamped offensive line.

Out with guard, Joe Thuney – who subbed in at tackle for the back-end of the season, including the devastating Super Bowl LIX loss to the Eagles in February, where the unit gave up six sacks – and in with tackles Jaylon Moore and rookie, Josh Simmons.

But perhaps the position group that could see the biggest improvement year-on-year for the Patrick Mahomes-led offense is at receiver, where the team drafted fourth round pick, Jalen Royals, back in April.

Although the Utah State product could end up being a steal; with many believing he was deserving of being a Day 2 selection, but slid due to a mix of injury concerns and playing-development; if there is a jump in pass-catching production, it will likely come from the players that were already on the roster last season.

And one of them in particular, according to Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon, could make a particularly large leap, as Gagnon ranked second year wideout, Xavier Worthy as one of the players with the potential to turn into a “superstar” during this upcoming season.

“The 22-year-old is one of the fastest players in the sport,” Gagnon said about Worthy on Friday, “and there’s a clear path for him to become Patrick Mahomes’ No. 1 target in the Kansas City offense considering there is no established top dog and Travis Kelce is fading.

With his first full offseason under his belt for 2025, we wouldn’t be surprised if we saw shades of 2018 Tyreek Hill from Worthy in the fall.”

Tyreek Hill feels like a natural comparison for a fellow Chiefs receiver who has pace in-line with anyone in the NFL. In fact, during his combine testing, Worthy recorded the fastest 40-yard dash time since the NFL Scouting Combine’s started keeping track of results in 2006, at 4.22 seconds.

Could Xavier Worthy Be The Next Tyreek Hill?

Worthy is also in a not-dissimilar situation as Hill was at this point in their respective careers.

They have almost identical first-year receiving statistics, with Worthy recording 638 yards to Hill’s 593 – and both caught 6 touchdowns.

Whilst Worthy was drafted in the first round, compared to Hill’s fifth, the “Cheetah” managed an additional 267 rushing yards and was awarded All-Pro honors in just his very first year in the league for his work on special teams as a returner.

To have any receiver’s realistic comparison as Tyreek Hill is ambitious to say the least – and there is far more to playing the position than simply having pace to burn – which both most certainly do.

ut, after he began to really find his footing in the final two playoff games last season, managing 243 yards and three touchdowns in the AFC Championship and Super Bowl, it seems like there could be a very bright future for the former Texas man.
