The Kansas City Chiefs‘ offense in 2025 is going to look vastly different from what it did a year ago, and one of the reasons why is the return of Patrick Mahomes‘ No. 1 weapon, Rashee Rice.
But not everyone is a believer.
Suffering a knee injury in Week 4 that ended his season, Rice is on the comeback trail and looking to be a force again for the offense. He isn’t the only one, though; Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was not sighted until Week 16 due to injury, so Mahomes will have two players back, and hopefully, at full health.Add those two to a group of Xavier Worthy, Juju Smith-Schuster, Jalen Royals and Skyy Moore and the Chiefs, on paper, have some good weapons.
And for Rice, who spoke with KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson at a youth football camp recently, knows what the group is capable of in 2025.
“We got a lot of guys. We are deep in depth,” Rice said. “Wide receiver group, we’re going to be explosive this year. We’re just excited to put on a show to be honest. We know it’s gonna be a show. Only thing in the way right now is time, so we’re just waiting patiently.”
One fantasy-minded might already be short on patience, though.
In a July 3 story from the ESPN staff, one writer cites Rice as a possible 2025 fantasy “bust.”
“Kansas City’s Rashee Rice is being drafted as a top-20 WR despite major red flags,” they write.
Rashee – who we will concede could be burdened by legal troubles (see below) – won’t have to be “the” guy for Mahomes, with Worthy, Smith-Schuster, and Brown all capable of sharing the load…providing the injury bug stays away.
After a poor end to the year with the Super Bowl beatdown, the Chiefs are looking to rebound in 2025, and having Rice and a full receiver room will certainly help with that.
