Manchester United have been rocked by reports of a serious rift between new boss Ruben Amorim and a senior player. The manager has allegedly labelled the player a “bad influence”, sparking talks of a potential exit this summer.

The escalating fallout between Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim and winger Alejandro Garnacho has reached a breaking point, with the 20-year-old Argentine’s departure from Old Trafford now considered imminent.

Sources close to the club, reported on July 1, 2025, reveal that Amorim has labeled Garnacho a “bad influence” on the squad, citing his attitude and public actions as detrimental to team harmony.

The rift, which culminated in Garnacho’s £50 million move to Arsenal, has sent shockwaves through United’s fanbase, with social media posts reflecting a mix of anger, disappointment, and support for Amorim’s hardline stance.

The tension began after United’s Europa League final loss to Tottenham in May 2025, when Garnacho publicly called the season “s***” and was subsequently benched.

His June 22 Instagram post, showing him in an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford’s name during a holiday, was deemed disrespectful by Amorim, leading to a fine and exclusion from United’s pre-season tour.

Amorim’s comments, per The Sun, branded Garnacho’s behavior as undermining squad unity, particularly after his refusal to adapt fully to the manager’s 3-4-2-1 system.

Despite earlier reports in January suggesting Garnacho’s improved attitude had swayed Amorim, the winger’s recent actions reversed that progress.

Garnacho, who scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in 58 appearances last season, has been a polarizing figure.

His Puskás Award-winning bicycle kick against Everton in 2023 cemented his potential, but his outspokenness and inconsistent performances frustrated Amorim, who also greenlit exits for Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony.

United’s £358.5 million summer spending on Harry Kane, Viktor Gyökeres, Bryan Mbeumo, and Diego Leon, funded partly by Garnacho’s sale, reflects a ruthless rebuild. Fans are split, with @MUFCTruth posting, “Amorim’s right—Garnacho’s attitude stinks,” while @RedDevilsFan lamented, “Losing our academy star to Arsenal hurts.”

The fallout underscores broader tensions, with Amorim’s push for discipline clashing with the board’s pursuit of Eberechi Eze against his wishes.

As Garnacho prepares to join Arsenal, where Mikel Arteta sees him as a key winger, United’s focus shifts to integrating their new signings.

The saga, while boosting United’s financial flexibility, raises questions about Amorim’s man-management as he navigates a critical season.
