We’re staying in the NFC East as we rank the quarterbacks that the Chiefs will play in 2025. Kansas City knows this QB well, and will be out for revenge when matching up against him. Let’s take a look. . .
No. 3: Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts
It remains debated by many whether or not Hurts is truly an elite level QB, but for writer’s money, he absolutely is. Hurts has played his best football when it matters the most — the postseason. That has culminated in leading the Eagles to two Super Bowls in three years, losing one, but emphatically winning the other.
Hurt’s playoff success has been incredible. He owns a 6-3 record, has thrown for 1,813 yards, rushed for 381 yards, recorded 20 total touchdowns, and just three interceptions. In Philadelphia’s Super Bowl LIX win over Kansas City, Hurts completed 77.3 percent of his passes while racking up 221 passing yards, 72 rushing yards, and three total TDs.
Even when the Chiefs defeated the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, Hurts went 27-38 for 304 yards and one TD, also adding 70 yards and three TDs rushing. Not a lot of QBs in NFL history have performed that well in multiple Super Bowls. Still just 26 years old, Hurts has the opportunity to put together one of the best postseason resumes by any QB in history.
Hurts’ regular season numbers are solid, but his yardage and TD totals have always been middle-of-the-road among QBs. A lot of that can be attributed to the Eagles’ running game, led by 2024 rushing champ Saquon Barkley. Hurts has already established himself as one of the great dual-threat QBs ever, highlighted by the infamous “tush push.”
The Chiefs will host Philadelphia in Week 2 of the 2025 season, which will be their home opener. K.C. will undoubtably be motivated to avenge their Super Bowl loss, but they are on a two-game losing streak against the Eagles dating back to the 2023 season. Hopefully the Chiefs’ defense can figure out a way to slow Hurts down this time around.
