Breaking News: Tottenham Hotspur Open Talks Over £50 Million Deal for Mohammed Kudus

Tottenham Hotspur have officially entered negotiations to sign highly-rated West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus this summer, as the North London club continues its aggressive push to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is personally leading talks with West Ham as he attempts to secure a deal worth around £50 million for the 24-year-old Ghanaian international. Kudus only joined the Hammers last summer from Ajax but has already established himself as one of the most versatile and dangerous attacking talents in English football.

Tottenham are now looking to capitalise on his impressive debut season in the Premier League by convincing both the player and West Ham to sanction a move across London.

A Strategic Move for Spurs’ New Era

Following a mixed 2024–25 season that saw Tottenham fall short of their ambitions, new manager Thomas Frank is overseeing a vital squad rebuild. Strengthening the forward line has been identified as a top priority, especially with the club eyeing a return to UEFA Champions League football.

Kudus’s profile fits perfectly into this vision. Able to operate across several roles—on the wing, as an attacking midfielder, or even up front—his versatility, technical quality, and explosive pace make him a dream fit for Frank’s dynamic attacking system. His arrival would inject both creativity and firepower into a Spurs side that struggled for consistency in the final third last season.

Kudus Keen on Spurs Switch

Reports suggest that Kudus is open to the idea of joining Tottenham, where he would not only receive a prominent role but also the platform to compete at the highest level of European football. Although Spurs did not qualify for the Champions League last season, their ambitions are clear, and the club is building a squad capable of challenging the Premier League’s elite.

For Kudus, the move represents a potential career-defining step. After making a seamless transition from the Eredivisie to the Premier League, he has already proven his ability to thrive in one of the most demanding leagues in the world. A move to Tottenham would allow him to test himself at a higher level, and possibly elevate his game further by playing alongside established stars and under a manager known for nurturing talent.

Negotiations Still in Early Stages

Despite Tottenham’s strong interest and Kudus’s apparent willingness, a deal is far from done. West Ham are understandably reluctant to part ways with a player they view as central to their long-term plans. While Spurs have proposed an offer in the region of £50 million, it remains to be seen whether that figure will be enough to persuade the Hammers to sell.

Kudus is understood to have an £85 million release clause in his contract, but there is skepticism that any club would meet that amount in full. As a result, West Ham may be forced to consider more realistic offers. Still, they are expected to hold firm in negotiations and will want to maximise the return on a player who only cost them around £38 million a year ago.

Tottenham Eyeing Value and Potential

For Tottenham, investing £50 million in Kudus would not only solve a current need but also represent a forward-thinking move. At just 24, he still has considerable room for growth, and his ceiling is widely regarded as extremely high. With the right coaching and environment, Kudus could blossom into a world-class talent at Spurs.

His physical attributes, flair, and ability to perform under pressure are already well established. Given his familiarity with English football and proven adaptability, Kudus could make an immediate impact at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The player’s personality and professionalism have also impressed many within the game, making him a low-risk, high-reward prospect for a club in transition.

What Comes Next

While Spurs have been linked with a host of attacking players this summer, Kudus appears to be emerging as a genuine priority. Talks are ongoing, and with Daniel Levy personally involved in the negotiations, there is a strong sense that Tottenham are serious about pushing this deal over the line.

Whether West Ham will agree to a reduced fee, or insist on something closer to the release clause, remains to be seen. But if the two clubs can find common ground, Tottenham could soon secure one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking players.

Fans will be watching closely in the coming weeks, hoping that Kudus becomes the marquee signing that helps usher in a new and more competitive chapter for the Lilywhites.

Palaeogenetic evidence suggests that the last common ancestor of present-day humans, Neanderthals and Denisovans lived around 765–550 thousand years ago (ka)1. However, both the geographical distribution and the morphology of these ancestral humans remain uncertain. The Homo antecessor fossils from the TD6 layer of Gran Dolina at Atapuerca, Spain, dated between 950 ka and 770 ka (ref. 2), have been proposed as potential candidates for this ancestral population3. However, all securely dated Homo sapiens fossils before 90 ka were found either in Africa or at the gateway to Asia, strongly suggesting an African rather than a Eurasian origin of our species. Here we describe new hominin fossils from the Grotte à Hominidés at Thomas Quarry I (ThI-GH) in Casablanca, Morocco, dated to around 773 ka. These fossils are similar in age to H. antecessor, yet are morphologically distinct, displaying a combination of primitive traits and of derived features reminiscent of later H. sapiens and Eurasian archaic hominins. The ThI-GH hominins provide insights into African populations predating the earliest H. sapiens individuals discovered at Jebel Irhoud in Morocco4 and provide strong evidence for an African lineage ancestral to our species. These fossils offer clues about the last common ancestor shared with Neanderthals and Denisovans.
