Matas Buzelis And Ayo Dosunmu Have A Rather Notable Admirer

The Chicago Bulls seem to have resigned themselves to a temporary rebuild. Multiple key names from their playoff team a few years ago have been traded. Lonzo Ball was the latest. He was sent to Cleveland. Many feel Nikola Vucevic and Coby White are next. At this stage, only one player is considered a true building block. That is Matas Buzelis, their 1st round pick from 2024, who had an excellent rookie season. Most people already have their eyes on 2026 as the next realistic opportunity for the team to improve via free agency.

However, sometimes things can take an unexpected turn. All the Bulls need is the right player to become available at the right time. Everybody knows Giannis Antetokounmpo has reached a crossroads with the Milwaukee Bucks. Prized trade acquisition Damian Lillard is gone, having had his contract bought out. The belief is the future Hall of Famer could demand a trade at any moment. Nobody would think the Bulls are a possibility, except Antetokounmpo mentioned he could see himself playing in Chicago one day.

If that weren’t enough, it appears he’s an admirer of Buzelis and Ayo Dosunmu, as a recent comment on Instagram showed.

Matas Buzelis And Ayo Dosunmu Have A Rather Notable Admirer

Matas Buzelis and Dosunmu paired with Giannis would be something.

If the young forward keeps developing as he has, many see him as the next iteration of Lamar Odom or Toni Kukoc. Dosunmu had his best season yet at point guard, averaging 14.6 points, 5.4 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per 36 minutes. He could easily be a starter on his team. Together with Giannis dominating the paint, it would instantly turn the Bulls into a legitimate East contender. The problem is compensation. Milwaukee is sure to demand something crazy for their superstar. It will involve at least three 1st round picks and probably every notable player on the Bulls’ roster except Buzelis. Are they prepared to give that up?

Giannis is still 30. He should have five great years left before his effectiveness starts dipping. The odds of anything happening are remote. Yet it is difficult to ignore the constant flirtations. If he’s a Matas Buzelis and Ayo fan, then things could happen.
