It wasn’t just another Sunday night at Chase Center. The Golden State Valkyries were hosting the Seattle Storm, aiming for their second straight win and looking to improve to 9-7 in their inaugural season.
This is the Valkyries’ first year in the WNBA, sharing the same arena as the Golden State Warriors.
Adding to the buzz, Warriors star Steph Curry was in attendance. The two-time NBA MVP and four-time NBA champion made his first appearance at a Valkyries home game, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

Curry has had a busy year beyond his NBA duties. He represented Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics, helping them win a gold medal. He was also named the 2024 USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year and remains a member of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.
Heading into the 2025-26 season, Curry is set to play the final year of his contract which carries a $59.6 million cap hit. He is expected to sign a veteran extension for the 2026-27 season worth $62.5 million.
