Lonzo Ball has become the latest of the old guard shipped out by the Chicago Bulls. It is such a depressing affair. For the shortest period of time, it felt like the organization had something real in place. Ball, DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, Alex Caruso, and Nikola Vucevic formed a strong core that made the Bulls a winning basketball team. Then Ball shredded his knee, and everything fell apart. DeRozan and LaVine tried keeping the team competitive, but the best they managed was around .500 with constant play-in appearances. Arturas Karnisovas has finally accepted the reality that changes were needed.
There is widespread belief that Vucevic and Coby White are the most likely dominoes to fall next. The 35-year-old center is no longer part of the team’s vision. They need to find somebody who needs help in the middle. As for White, he only has one year left on his contract. The Bulls aren’t sure they can afford to extend him again, especially if it doesn’t come with a guarantee of a starting job. However, according to K.C. Johnson, the name that might be getting the most interest around the league is neither of those two.
Bulls remain active in trade market. FWIW, I’ve heard more chatter surrounding Ayo Dosunmu than Coby White. https://t.co/cvyvnF74Dv

Nikola Vucevic and White can’t offer what Dosunmu can.
That is, namely, price. Since he’s been a bench guy, teams know they can probably secure him to an affordable deal while making him a starter on their roster. He’s been an excellent player the past two years for the Bulls, averaging 12.2 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.1 rebounds in 29.6 minutes per game. This comes despite playing out of position as a shooting guard most of his career. He could really take off if another team allows him to man his original spot at point guard. Whether the Bulls are entertaining offers is unknown. They’ve been receptive to White and Nikola Vucevic. There are no such indications with Dosunmu. As a Chicago native and great role player, they may not see the value in trading him unless it’s for a strong return.
