NFL superstar Travis Kelce never seems to slow down, neither on nor off the field.
The legendary tight end finished up a three-day minicamp earlier this month as part of mandatory offseason training for the Kansas City Chiefs.
With a little over five weeks to go before preseason begins, the 10-time Pro Bowler is taking a well deserved break and has revealed his upcoming plans this summer, and it’s not on the football field.
Travis Kelce will be trading tight ends for tight fairways when he tees it up at the American Century Championship early next month in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
This year will mark 36th year of the celebrity golf event, held at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, and the sixth consecutive year the Kansas City Chief’s tight end joins the field.
The fan favorite event boasts a star-studded field of celebrities, ranging from sports stars like Steph Curry and Josh Allen, to actor Rob McElhenney and Olympic silver medalist tennis star Mardy Fish.
Travis Kelce will be joined by his brother, retired Philadelphia Eagles center, Jason Kelce, who will be playing the event for the second year in a row.
The American Century Championship is played in a 54-hole Modified Stableford format, which earns players points in relation to par instead of counting total strokes.
A par earns two points, a birdie earns three points, and so on, with a double bogey or worse earning zero points. In this format, like football, the highest score wins.
The tournament also features a long drive contest, which the Kelce brothers have dominated the past two years.
Jason Kelce, 37, won the long drive contest at last year’s event with a massive 322-yard drive on the 16th hole.
In 2023, Travis Kelce won the long drive contest with a monster 367-yard bomb.
The American Century Championship will be broadcast live on Peacock starting Friday, July 11th with weekend coverage on NBC and Peacock.
Travis Kelce and the Chiefs will be back on the field August 9th as NFL Preseason kicks off with the Chiefs taking on the Cardinals.
