The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off yet another appearance in the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes and company came up on the wrong side of the equation this past year, though, and now they aim to change that once the 2025 campaign kicks off this September.
For a franchise as heralded as Kansas City’s, it is common to see veterans join the organization on short-term deals in hopes of maximizing the opportunity they have to compete for a championship, as that is the ultimate goal in the NFL.
While one veteran who tried, and failed, to do just that this past season is turning heads in his new home within the NFL, it seems safe to say that the Chiefs and the decision makers in their front office couldn’t be less concerned.
Chiefs Won’t Miss WR DeAndre Hopkins Despite His Strong Offseason
DeAndre Hopkins signed a one-year, $5 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens this offseason and has already made a name for himself during the early portions of the team’s offseason program. As Chiefs fans know, this is the time of year when every team has hope and a single positive play could become something much larger of a deal.
Despite that being the case, Hopkins is receiving praise from veteran Baltimore tight end Mark Andrews, as the veteran pass catcher has looked like the future Hall of Fame pass catcher he was expected to be.
“He looks great,” Andrews said of Hopkins, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com. “He looks really, really good. He’s been making some big plays, and I think he’s going to be great for our offense, just being versatile, having a guy that catches the ball extremely well, runs really fluid routes and knows the game well.”
This past season, Hopkins appeared in 10 games for Kansas City after a disastrous stint with the Tennessee Titans. In those games, the former Clemson Tigers standout was quite impressive as he had 41 catches for 437 yards receiving and four touchdowns.
Hopkins can certainly still play the game, and do it at a high level. Even if he goes on to have a strong season in Baltimore, as Andrews is suggesting, he will still be battling it out against Father Time, and he is as ruthless as they come.
