Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has been instrumental in the franchise’s recent success, but where does he rank among head coaches?

The Kansas City Chiefs have been the NFL’s most dominant force since Patrick Mahomes became the starter, and the franchise hasn’t looked back.

Reaching at least the AFC Championship in each season since 2018, plus winning three Super Bowls, and losing two, the Chiefs have been winning more than most.

Mahomes is a reason for that, as is head coach Andy Reid, who consistently has a knack for putting his players in the right position to succeed in the biggest moments.

When ranking the top head coaches in the NFL, Pro Football Focus, as most would, has Reid at No. 1.

“Like Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots teams before them, the Kansas City Chiefs are the masters of situational football,” Pro Football Focus writes. “The Chiefs played in 12 one-score games last season, including the playoffs, and won all of them. They found a way to reach the Super Bowl for the third straight season because Andy Reid has his entire team prepared for any situation.”

Reid currently sits fourth all-time for wins (273), second for playoff wins (28), has three Super Bowls, and has six conference titles.

As Chiefs head coach, Reid has an astonishing 143-53 regular season record, and is 18-8 in the playoffs.

Most would attribute the playoff success to Mahomes, and that is fair (like Brady and Belichick), but there’s no denying Reid, who is also the offensive coordinator, has more than played his role.

Yes, the Chiefs were blown out in the Super Bowl, but Reid still remains one of, if not the best coach in football today.
