The Kansas City Chiefs will face many of the NFL’s best quarterbacks in 2025.
Quarterback is the most important position in the league, and a good one can always find a way to win regardless of how good of a defense he faces.
The Chiefs know that better than anyone with two-time MVP and three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes at the helm.
Over the next couple of weeks we’re going to rank each of the 14 QBs that Kansas City will face during the regular season. Today we’ll begin with the weakest, and will gradually work our way up to the most difficult.
No. 14: Indianapolis Colts QBs Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones
I’m including both as it appears that the Colts have a QB controversy going on between the seventh-year veteran Jones and third-year Richardson.
Jones had his moments with the New York Giants, but the bad far outweighed the good, leading to a midseason release in 2024. He finished out the season on the Minnesota Vikings‘ practice squad.
Jones has a career record of 22-44-1 as a starter. However, his stat line is pretty solid, featuring a 64.1 percent completion percentage, 14,582 passing yards, 70 touchdowns and 47 interceptions. Some believe that the Giants didn’t do a good enough job of surrounding Jones with talent, and that he can succeed in the right situation.
Richardson’s rookie year was basically a wash as he suffered an AC joint sprain that cost him the final 13 games of the season. He did show some promise, posting a 2-2 record with 577 passing yards, three TDs, one INT, 136 rushing yards, and four rushing TDs.
Unfortunately, Richardson struggled mightily as a passer in 2024, throwing just eight TDs in 11 games with 12 INTs and an extremely poor 47.7 completion percentage. Various injuries and a temporary benching due to poor performance cost him five games.
Regardless of whether Jones or Richardson wins the Colts’ starting QB job, neither is exactly striking fear into opposing defenses. Jones may be solid at times, but he needs a lot to go right to be effective. Richardson’s rushing ability can tough to defend, but he’s nowhere close to where he needs to be as a passer to be a starter in the NFL.
The Chiefs will host the Colts in Week 12 just before heading to Dallas to take on the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day.
