Sources: £60m attacker is now ‘very keen’ to join Tottenham, James Maddison thinks he’s a ‘baller’

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly growing increasingly confident in their pursuit of one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking talents, with strong indications suggesting they are in pole position to land Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

According to fresh information from TBR Football, Spurs are pushing forward in their efforts to strengthen their attacking options under newly appointed manager Thomas Frank. The Danish tactician, who took the reins after the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou earlier this summer, has made bolstering his forward line a key priority ahead of the new campaign.

Tottenham have already made a statement by sealing the permanent signing of French forward Mathys Tel for a fee believed to be around £30 million. However, despite that addition, the club remains eager to further reinforce their front line, particularly in the wide attacking areas, where they feel there is room for improvement.

One of the club’s top targets, Eberechi Eze, is now said to be pushing for a move to North London. Sources close to the situation have revealed to TBR Football that the Crystal Palace playmaker is eager to work under Thomas Frank and is actively seeking an exit from Selhurst Park. Eze, who has attracted interest from a host of top clubs, including Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Manchester United, appears to be leaning towards Tottenham as his preferred destination.

Spurs are encouraged by signals from the player’s camp and now believe they are his ‘first-choice’ option. The club’s belief has been strengthened by Frank’s clear admiration for Eze’s talents, with the new boss having already communicated his desire to bring the England international to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Eze’s current deal with Crystal Palace includes a £60 million release clause, which became active this summer. Palace are reportedly open to negotiating flexible payment terms — a structure involving an initial payment in the region of £25–30 million, with the remaining balance to be paid in future instalments. Additionally, there is potential for performance-related bonuses amounting to as much as £8 million, depending on his impact at his new club.

The 26-year-old has been a standout performer for Palace and has steadily developed into one of the Premier League’s most technically gifted and unpredictable attackers. His dribbling, set-piece ability, and creativity have caught the eye of many — including current Tottenham midfielder James Maddison, who hailed Eze as a “baller” after the Palace man made his England debut in June 2023, coming on as a substitute for Maddison during a 4–0 Euro 2024 qualifying win against Malta.

Tottenham captain Son Heung-min has also praised Eze in the past, labelling him a player of “fantastic” quality after the winger scored a superb free-kick against Spurs in the 2023/24 Premier League season.

Tottenham’s interest in Eze is long-standing, having first expressed a desire to sign him back in 2019 when he was lighting up the Championship with Queens Park Rangers. Since then, his reputation has only grown, and now Spurs look set to finally make a decisive move.

With Eze eager to join, the release clause active, and Tottenham willing to meet Palace’s payment demands, this transfer could gain significant traction in the coming days. If successful, Eze would become another marquee addition in what is shaping up to be a transformative summer under the new regime at Spurs.
