The New York Yankees are being mentioned in ongoing MLB trade rumors.

The New York Yankees face plenty of decisions ahead of the MLB trade deadline on July 31, 2025. New York continues to be linked to trade rumors aiming to upgrade their infield as well as adding potential pitching depth.

The Yankees could turn to one of their young prospects as an eventual upgrade to Jazz Chisholm. Another option is for New York to explore the trade market and acquire a veteran who may be more ready to help the Yankees in their push to win the World Series.

Yahoo Sports’ Russell Dorsey labeled the Yankees as one of the top potential landing spots for Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez.

“Right-handed power is hard to come by in baseball these days, which makes Eugenio Suárez a highly coveted player,” Dorsey wrote in a June 18, 2025, story titled, “7 players who could be on the move at the MLB trade deadline: Chris Sale, Eugenio Suárez, Emmanuel Clase and more.” “The D-backs’ third baseman has been one of the game’s top power threats this season, batting .234 with 21 home runs and 58 RBI.

“And that’s nothing new: Since the 2019 season, he ranks sixth in MLB in homers, behind only Aaron Judge, Pete Alonso, Kyle Schwarber, Shohei Ohtani and Matt Olson,” Dorsey added.

“Suárez, who will be a free agent at season’s end, is also considered one of the game’s top personalities and has the ability to bring a clubhouse together — an added benefit for any contender.”

Potential Yankees Trade Target Eugenio Suárez Is in the Final Season of a 7-Year, $66 Million Contract

Acquiring Suarez is not without risk as the veteran third baseman is in the final season of a seven-year, $66 million contract with the Diamondbacks. New York would likely only trade for Suarez if the team is aiming to re-sign the infielder.

Buster Olney mentioned that the Yankees would be interested in 3B Eugenio Suarez if the Diamondbacks chose to sell.

With 21 HRs and a 127 wRC+, he would be a PERFECT power bat for the offense, and NYY has the pitching prospects to entice them.

Should the Yanks get Geno?

The former All-Star is batting .251 with 71 hits, 25 home runs and 67 RBI amid a recent hot streak. Acquiring Suarez would give the Yankees yet another bat to pair with Aaron Judge and company.

Yankees Rumors: New York Linked to a Potential Trade for Pirates Infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa

Another player who continues to be linked to the Yankees is Pittsburgh Pirates versatile infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa. The former Gold Glove winner previously played two seasons for the Yankees in 2022 and 2023.

While not as flashy of a name as Suarez, Kiner-Falefa would offer the Yankees immense versatility with the ability to play shortstop, third base and outfield. USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported that the Yankees are keeping an eye on a potential reunion.

“The New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants are keeping a close eye on versatile Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who should be available at the trade deadline,” Nightengale detailed in a June 22, story titled, “‘Misunderstood’ Manny Machado makes no apologies on his path to Hall of Fame.”

The Yankees bats have suddenly gone cold, likely prompting questions for the team’s front office ahead of the deadline. During this recent stretch, the Yankees offense has been historically bad.

“No one could have imagined that the Yankees’ powerful offense would go AWOL, scoring seven runs in a seven-game span, losing six of them,” Nightengale added. “The last time that happened? Would you believe Sept. 1-7, 1908, according to researcher Katie Sharp.”
