The Phoenix Suns kicked off their offseason in a major way as they agreed to trade Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets on Sunday.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Suns agreed to send Durant to the Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and five second-round picks.

This was a massive move by the Suns after weeks of holding talks with other teams about a potential Durant trade and they eventually settled on the Rockets’ offer.
While Houston ultimately won the Durant sweepstakes, there were other teams in discussions with Phoenix to land the future Hall of Fame forward, including the Miami Heat.
Despite the Heat being named one of Durant’s preferred destinations, they were unable to work out a deal for the superstar forward for a couple of key reasons.
According to Suns insider John Gambadoro, the Heat made Nikola Jovic and Kel’el Ware untouchable in trade talks for Durant and they also offered the Suns only one first-round pick.
In his report, Gambadoro also took a shot at the Heat due to their trade offer for Durant.
“Miami was never really serious. The just pretended to be to appease their fan base,” Gambadoro said about the Heat’s interest in Durant.
