Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes took to social media to react to Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton’s injury in the first quarter of Game 7 of the NBA Finals.
The All-Star point guard for the Pacers went down with an apparent right leg injury with just under five minutes left in the first quarter of Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Haliburton had been playing through a Grade 2 right calf strain, knowing that the risk of further injury was higher playing through the injury. He was helped off the floor and into the locker room in excruciating pain. The team quickly ruled him out, and just before halftime, Haliburton’s father confirmed to ESPN’s sideline reporter Lisa Salters that it was, in fact, an Achilles injury.
Haliburton’s reaction at the moment told the entire story about the injury’s seriousness.
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes reacts to Tyrese Haliburton’s injury with consecutive posts on X
Mahomes is an avid NBA fan, supporting his Dallas Mavericks, but he’s also a sports fanatic and rarely misses the biggest of games. He was watching during the gut-wrenching moment when Haliburton went down with the Achilles injury, and his reaction is exactly like the rest of the NBA-watching world.
“No way man,” Mahomes wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Prayers up man… 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Mahomes knows what it’s like better than anyone, playing through injury and adversity for your teammates and a shot at a world title. He’s dealt with ankle injuries during the NFL postseason, returning from a high ankle sprain quicker than most would to give his team the best shot at a Super Bowl berth. No one faults Haliburton for giving it a go, but it’s a brutal outcome for a young star in the NBA.
