Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has done it all in his 12 years in the league, and for most, he doesn’t have anything left to prove…but he feels differently.
After a 2024 season that saw him post “just” 823 yards and three touchdowns, both of which were his lowest totals since his rookie season, Travis decided to come back for a 13th year. He couldn’t end it like that.
With the future Hall of Famer dropping some weight this offseason and being full-go at minicamp, he has hit the ground running for the revenge tour of 2025.
However, there was a time when he considered walking away.
“I know I’m getting older, but at the same time, I still feel like I have a lot that I can prove in this league,” Kelce said. “With that being said, it really wasn’t that hard of a decision for me.”
Kelce’s legacy is already etched in stone as one of, if not the best, tight end to ever play in the NFL, but the Super Bowl loss, plus how he performed throughout the year and in the postseason, left a sour taste in his mouth.
Now, with renewed vigor and motivation to bounce back in the way many know he can, Kelce looks set again to be Patrick Mahomes‘ go-to guy in big moments.
Yes, last year it looked like Father Time had caught up to Travis, but he’s determined to get at least one more year out of his body, and hopefully one more Super Bowl ring, too.
