Liverpool Confident in Signing £84m Ekitike After Securing Wirtz

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool is optimistic about signing Hugo Ekitike this summer, adding him to their squad alongside Florian Wirtz.

Following Arne Slot’s impressive first season that saw Liverpool clinch their second Premier League title—finishing 10 points ahead of Arsenal—the club is preparing for a busy transfer window.

The Reds have already secured Jeremie Frimpong as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has joined Real Madrid. An agreement is also in place with Bayer Leverkusen for Wirtz.

Still, Liverpool is keen to bring in another forward.

Ekitike Valued at £84m by Frankfurt

Ekitike, who had a standout campaign with Eintracht Frankfurt in both the Bundesliga and Europa League, has caught the attention of major European clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United.

Despite this, Liverpool remains confident in their pursuit of the French striker, who has drawn comparisons to both Neymar and Kylian Mbappe for his dynamic style of play.

Frankfurt is demanding £84 million for Ekitike, and Liverpool has expressed strong interest but will need to sell players to fund the move.

Ekitike is aware of Liverpool’s interest and is open to a potential transfer.

The Reds are expected to let Darwin Nunez leave, and both Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa are also likely to be on their way out. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are eyeing Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz, though Slot hopes to retain them.
