Manchester United have a defining summer ahead of them. The Red Devils will know the importance of having a perfect summer transfer window, both in terms of recruitments and sacrifices.
Ruben Amorim has not covered himself glory during his time in England yet but it could all change this upcoming season.
The Red Devils squad is one filled with problems. There are a lot of issues with it and it might not all be solvable in just one transfer window.
However, Man Utd need to make a start somewhere and they already have, with the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
Now, as per TBR Football, Man Utd have been offered a great chance to sign talented Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae.
The South Korean does not seem to have a future at the German club and the Red Devils could be able to add a quality center-back to their ranks.
Apart from the Old Trafford-based club, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle United have all been made aware of the defender’s situation this summer. Kim actually had a very good season at Bayern under Vincent Kompany, but with Jonathan Tah arriving, his days could be numbered.
Bayern Munich paid around £51m to sign him in 2023 from Napoli and Man Utd will need to be willing to pay somewhere close to that figure if they desire to sign the Asian defender. However, the Red Devils have other areas to focus on the pitch and might not prioritize the defender’s signing.
Despite Ruben Amorim preferring to play with a system that requires three central defenders, Man Utd have no shortage of options.
Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven and Noussair Mazraoui all capable of playing in that position, Ruben Amorim is sorted.
In fact, it is one of the very few positions in the pitch that Man Utd don’t need to worry about this summer and thus, signing Kim must not be a priority.
The number of clubs interested in him means he might not be available for a bargain price either and there doesn’t seem to be any sporting sense in pursuing this transfer.
Over the years, Man Utd haven’t necessarily operated in transfer windows in a manner that inspires much confidence.
Thus, one cannot be sure which side of the coin they will fall on with regards to a potential pursuit for Kim Min-jae. Only time will tell how this particular transfer saga plays out.
