Heat’s social media team unintentionally revealed Miami’s untouchable 5

Miami Heat v Atlanta Hawks - Play-In Tournament

The Miami Heat’s social media team may have unintentionally revealed the five players whom the team could consider untouchable heading into the offseason. As the Heat’s social team continues to churn out offseason content, it’s quite interesting that much of their promotion revolves around five players – Davion Mitchell, Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo, Kel’el Ware, and Nikola Jovic.

It could lead one to believe that Miami may believe these are the five foundational pieces of the roster heading into the offseason. They may not all be 100 percent “untouchable,” especially if the right deal does arise; however, it wouldn’t be that surprising if this were exactly the thinking for the franchise.

I’m sure the Heat’s front office is asking the social media team to promote just these five players, but the writing is on the wall as well heading into the summer. While Miami is seeking big changes this offseason, it’s hard to imagine how they’re going to be able to restructure this roster completely.

In many ways, “big changes” for the Heat would be accomplished if they could swing a deal for a star player like Kevin Durant. But even then, in a perfect world, the Heat would be able to strike a deal for KD without including any of these five “untouchable” players.

That may be considered wishful thinking, but that’s absolutely the only real way the Heat will be able to remain competitive after adding a star player this summer.

These five players will dictate the direction of the franchise

No matter what ends up happening this offseason, the argument could be made that these five players, or a combination of them, will end up dictating the future and ultimate direction of this franchise. It’s easy to see why that may be the case for Herro and Bam, which has been the case for the last few seasons.

However, much of that is also true for Mitchell, Ware, and Jovic.

If the Heat are going to make an unlikely move up the Eastern Conference standings, they’re going to need Mitchell, Ware, and Jovic to continue to make big strides in their individual development, with or without a star addition this summer. These three players are the core supporting cast for the team.

If the Heat is unable to land a star player this summer, the importance of this trio will only grow exponentially. The good news for the Heat is that there’s optimism for each of these players. Jovic made great strides in his development this past season and could just be scratching the surface of his true potential.

Ware had his ups and downs during his rookie season, but he does have all the tools that the team is looking for in a long-term answer at the center position next to Bam. Mitchell appears to be one of the biggest steals from the NBA Trade Deadline, and his work ethic and hard-nosed style of play fit perfectly with what Miami is looking for.

It’s easy to see why Miami may view Herro, Bam, Jovic, Mitchell, and Ware as their “untouchable 5” heading into the offseason. And if this is true, the Heat’s social media team is doing very little to hide that fact.
