Steph Curry recently made a sweet gesture toward one of his biggest fans. Quincy Olivari, an LA Lakers rookie, unveiled during this year’s preseason that he was a huge fan of the Golden State Warriors star. Olivari got to meet his idol when the Lakers went up against the Warriors in the preseason.

The Lakers rookie shared his thoughts on meeting Curry and got emotional during the postgame press conference. It appears that the Warriors star heard his sentiments and reciprocated Olivari’s energy.

Quincy recently posted a picture on his Instagram stories showing a pile of Steph Curry sneakers still inside their boxes. The caption of the image suggests that Curry sent these shoes over to the rookie, likely making him feel emotional about the surprise.

Quincy Olivari got emotional after meeting Steph Curry

Before the 2024-25 NBA season commenced, the LA Lakers went up against the Golden State Warriors in their final two preseason games. During their last game against each other, Lakers rookie Quincy Olivari had the opportunity to meet his idol, Steph Curry.

During the postgame press conference of their final preseason game, the media asked Olivari about his conversation with Curry. The Lakers rookie struggled to hold his emotions back as he explained his experience while slowly bursting into tears.

“It’s crazy ’cause I liked since I was in sixth grade,” Olivari said in the press conference. “I don’t even know what to say man. [Steph Curry] is my favorite player ever. First thing he told me was that “I’m a big fan of your game.” Truth be told I’m a big fan of him.”

Quincy Olivari’s emotions became more difficult for him to hold back as he continued to share how nice his idol was to him. After their game, Curry signed Olivari’s jersey and shoes, which was a surreal moment for the rookie.

The reason behind Steph taking a liking to Quincy could be because of the way the Lakers rookie performed. Despite getting blown out by the Golden State Warriors 132-74, Olivari put up huge numbers for the Purple and Gold.

He had 22 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. His shooting performance was remarkable as well, with 55.6 accuracy from three and 50% overall. Olivari’s stellar performance resulted in the LA Lakers converting his contract to a two-way deal.
